Bento virgin . . . .

Hello
I wanted to say hi and I'm glad I found some people to discuss Bento with.
As I said in the Subject I am (for lack of a better phrase) a Bento virgin. I recently bought a Japanese cook book by Harumi Kurihara which has a small section in it about preparing Bento and from what I can see has some good idea's for Bento.
Since then I have been searching for related websites and such and I had no idea how much stuff I would find about it. I find it seriously interesting and I am now planning on getting myself a Bento box and I plan to experiment.
Does anyone have any idea's for my very first Bento ?! Razz

When I have made it I will post pictures Smile

Ultimately a bento is for your lunch ....so make something you love. There are lots of yummy Japanese food you can put into a bento.

Or try a little Japanese / UK fusion cooking and give your bento a twist. I like to use yorkshire puddings containing rice and spicy mince. I also like to place sliced fruit in a bento tray and pour jelly over the top.

If you flick through a book like "Watashitachi no Obento" (Our Bento)
http://www.bentobusiness.co.uk/page26.htm you see that real japanese bentos can contain almost anything.
